FROME Inner Wheel Club recently started their new year with two cheque presentations at a club lunch.
Voices Against Cholera and Aids, and Wessex Life Education both received cheques from the group last week.
A club spokesperson said, “Yvonne Covill, the new President of Frome’s Inner Wheel, invited all the members on Tuesday 18th August to her house for lunch and luckily it was a really lovely day, and everyone enjoyed some delicious food supplied by the members in Yvonne’s pretty garden.
“During the event there were two cheque presentations one for ‘Voices Against Cholera and Aids’, a charity headed by Antony and Avril Williamson from Wesley Church, who were delighted to accept £300 from our past President Margaret Holmes.
“The second cheque of £25 was presented to Renee Cole for the charity “ Wessex Life Education” a charity that her late husband Michael was a trustee for, and worked within the group transporting the Life Education caravan to many schools in Somerset.
“The afternoon was a great success and everybody went home very happy. The next event on the calendar for the club will be the Farmers Harvest Festival & Auction held at the Conference Centre Standerwick on Thursday 8th October starting at 7.00 pm.
“Everyone is welcome and the auction will again be a collection of home-made cakes, jams, vegetables, fruit and flowers including a collection of gifts for everyone, so do come and join us, and have a great night out.”
