On 5th February 2016 members of the Frome Rotary club celebrate the 90th anniversary of their club’s charter from Rotary International.
Since receiving its charter in 1926 Frome Rotary club has raised significant funds and supported a variety of community and youth projects. Patrick Cusworth took over as the Frome Rotary Club President in July.
Patrick said, “These celebrations of our 90th anniversary will without doubt be the highlight of my year as president.”
As one of the oldest clubs in the UK, Frome Rotary has operated throughout two major world wars and at a time of enormous change for Frome town.
The club are intending to commemorate this historic event by publicising stories of events throughout their history including events of local significance.
The celebrations will also be marked by a display in Frome museum on North Parade featuring photos of past and present club events and other information, documents and display items relating to the clubs local and international service projects.
Rotary is a world wide organisation founded in 1905 and now has 34,000 clubs with 1.2 million members in over 200 countries. Today these business men and women continue to work together through their local clubs to provide humanitarian service and foster goodwill and peace in local and world communities.
