Frome charity, The Pod, took part in the Frome Half Marathon this year, raising £1,300 which will help local young people.
The newly-formed charity was set up to meet the needs of young people with additional needs and their families in the Mendip area.
They currently run ‘The Pod Youth Club’, which welcomes young people aged 10-18 years old with various diagnosis and social communication difficulties. This autumn they will be opening a youth club for young carers, with plans to offer a day service provision in Frome for the future.
Sue Paxton from The Pod said, “We were delighted to have taken part in the recent Frome Marathon where Team Pod were pleased to have support from Poppy, Tim, Kym and Leah who all together raised £1300.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to our first ‘Team Pod’ and to everyone who kindly sponsored us. The money raised has allowed us to offer our first holiday activity which will take place at Brokerswood Country Park this summer, with some funds leftover to cover our running costs.
“The Pod running team would love to expand and enter next year’s Frome Marathon so if anyone would like to be part of Team Pod next year we would love to hear from you.”
Please contact Sue Paxton on 07964 897292 or email info@thepodcharity.org.uk if you are interested in running with them or getting involved in any way. You can also contact them if you know someone who may be interested in accessing the clubs in the future.
