NCT Frome and District branch are running the third and final Nearly New Sale of 2015 at the Cheese and Grain on Saturday 17th October from 10am-12 noon.
A wide range of children’s clothing, toys, books and equipment will be on offer at bargain prices. Nearly New Sale coordinator and local mum Emma Moxon said, “I’ve been running the sales for three years and they’re always very busy. We get great feedback from local parents about how well-organised they are and how easy it is to find what you’re looking for.
“All the items are grouped into categories and age groups and the sale is run by NCT volunteers rather than each seller having their own table. The last sale of the year is usually the busiest as people prepare for Christmas, both by raising money selling items they no longer need and bagging a Christmas bargain on the day.
“Sellers keep 70% of the sale price of their goods while NCT use their commission to fund local and national campaigns and events to improve the lives of new parents from pregnancy through to age two, the ‘first 1000 days’. This can be anything from running toddler groups and training breastfeeding peer supporters to lobbying Parliament for improved working rights for parents.
“Most of our volunteers were once helped by NCT and now help out to give something back. The sale starts at 10am and entry is just £1. Card-carrying NCT members and pregnant ladies are admitted slightly earlier at 9.45. Unfortunately, as the sales get so crowded, it’s not possible to bring in prams or pushchairs, but there’s a buggy park at the Cheese and Grain for anyone attending the sale.”
