TIC TAC TOE presents The Complete works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by Jess Borgeson, Adam Long and Daniel Singer at the Merlin in November.
Tic Tac Toe has been making a name for itself over the last year. They premiered with last year’s critically acclaimed ‘The Pillowman’ and have since then have had three very successful ‘Play in a Day’ projects at the popular pub theatre venue, The Cornerhouse.
In November they return to the Merlin Theatre with their latest performance, the fast paced and very, very funny ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)’.
The real challenge of ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)’ is can three noble gentlemen really cover all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in about 90 minutes? Calum Grant, who directs the play, is sure that he has the right cast to pull of this amazing feat.
He said, “The truth is the play rockets through the plays, with some plays given a full (if abridged) performance, whilst others are covered very quickly. The comedies are presented as one ‘lump of hilarity’ the histories become an American football match, the most important thing is getting three performers with the talent and energy to keep up the blistering pace that this play needs.”
The three actors who are breathing new and silly life into Shakespeare’s work are the very experienced and talented Ross Scott, Simon Joyce and Chris Anderson.
Frome audiences will be familiar with Ross Scott from his many roles with Frome Drama Club and his recent role in ‘The Muffin Man’ and ‘The Muffin Man 2’ with Pastry Productions. Ross also played Katurian in last year’s ‘The Pillowman’ with Tic Tac Toe.
Simon Joyce also returns to Tic Tac Toe, after his very successful portrayal of Micael in ‘The Pillowman’.
The final cast member is Chris Anderson, who is joining Tic Tac Toe for the first time, although Chris has vast experience in theatre and has done many productions in Warminster and Frome, including Pontius Pilate in FMTC’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar!’.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is on at the Merlin Theatre during the weekend of 7th and 8th November. For tickets call 01373 465949 or book online on the Merlin Theatre Website www.merlintheatre.co.uk
