Frome invited to support ‘Toy Exchange’

A Frome charity shop is helping to promote a national ‘toy exchange’ to raise money for vulnerable children.

The Barnardo’s team in Kingsway Precinct are inviting residents to give a new lease of life to pre-loved teddy bears, dolls, action figures and games.

Supporters can take donations to their local Barnardo’s or Argos stores until Friday 20th November in return for a £5 voucher towards the cost of new toys (minimum spend £35) to be redeemed at Argos by Thursday 24th December. This is the fourth year of the campaign, which last year raised £560,000 for the charity.

Barnardo’s deputy manager Nicola Mattin said, “The Argos Toy Exchange encourages people to think about recycling their unwanted items, and the funds raised will help to make a big difference to the lives of vulnerable children across the UK.

“We support some of the most disadvantaged children and young people, such as those growing up in poverty, and those living in care. Over the last four years the toy exchange has received generous support from the local community and hopefully this year will be the best yet.

“Every single donation will help us to give children and young people a better start in life.”
