Frome is a growing town and a new social Badminton Club dedicated to fun, fitness and friendly competition has started up for Frome’s 18+ Badminton players and will help cheer up Monday nights.
Whilst not suitable for absolute beginners, the club welcomes people who have not played for some time and want to play again. The idea is for people to have some healthy exercise whilst enjoying playing social badminton.
The club plays 8.00pm to 10.00pm on Monday nights at Frome Leisure Centre.
Sarah Cruwys, general manager of Frome Leisure Centre said, “We are delighted to be working with the newly formed Shuttles Badminton Club. There is a real need for clubs such as these in our local area to support active living and to demonstrate that sport, and in this case badminton can be a lot of fun. It’ll be great to see some members of the community returning to badminton.”
Due to the popularity of the sport, The Shuttles Club is also hoping to introduce flexibility for players by offering play at a second venue which is likely to be at Writhlington Sports Centre on Thursday nights, the idea being for members to be able to play on either one, or both, nights.
The club is being supported by local company, Premier Installations of Frome who are keen to support sport and healthy living in the Frome area. A cheque donation from Premier Installations, to help with set up costs and sponsoring the purchase of shuttles, was made on 26th October.
If you are interested in either night, or would like to try the club out on a Monday night, please contact the club co-ordinator, John Warman on 01373 463268 or club secretary, Julie Wilkes on 01373 465335.
