MBE honour for services to the bereaved

Mells resident, Julia Samuel, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for 2016.

Founder patron and trustee of Child Bereavement UK, Julia has been recognised for her work in supporting families when a child dies or when a child  is faced with bereavement.

Julia who is one of Prince George’s godparents told the Frome Times, “I received the letter with the news at the end of November and it was a lovely surprise. I had no idea and I was absolutely delighted.

“It’s a great honour not only personally, but for the whole charity. It is also an acknowledgment of the hard work that is done by everyone at the charity. It also represents the great need for the continued support that charity provides.

“I don’t know as of yet when I will be invited to receive the award, but it is very exciting.”
