A Little Night Market for Frome this July

SUMMER nights in Frome are about to get a little bit more exciting!

The team behind The Frome Independent are producing ‘A Little Night Market’, a one-off event for the evening of Friday 30th July, inspired by the summertime night markets traditionally found in France.

The organisers report, “Although much smaller in scale than the usual town-wide monthly markets hosted by The Frome Independent, this event will still be big on atmosphere.  There will be music, food and a selection of traders from Frome and the local area, selling local produce, vintage and flea market goods and contemporary craft.

“If restrictions are extended beyond 19th July, the event will comply with covid-safety guidance, with social distancing and hygiene measures in place, meaning that those who are perhaps trepidatious about returning to town and events can be reassured.

“A Little Night Market is running instead of the planned return of the full monthly market on Sunday 1st August. Due to the delay in lockdown easing, the market team took the difficult decision to postpone the restart of the town-wide monthly markets until Sunday 5th September.

“The Frome Independent is a not-for-profit company, consisting of a small, local team that has been running Sunday markets in the town centre since 2013. During the pandemic, it has not been safe enough to run full-scale events, and so markets have taken place online.”

Director of The Frome Independent, Tabitha Clayson, said that her team were excited to be bringing a live event back to the town, “Our team have been working hard to bring you an event that champions local makers and offers an opportunity for the community to come together but that also meets requirements for covid-safety for reassurance and if still necessary. While we’re sad to have to delay the restart of our full-sized, town-wide markets, we’re really excited for the opportunity to bring you this new event.”

‘A Little Night Market’ will take place from 5:30pm until 10pm on Friday 30th July, at the Market Yard in Frome. Entry is free.
