Double Awards for Top Football Club in Somerset!

LOCAL grassroots sports team, the Frome Falcons Powerchair Football Club, have recently been crowned with two county awards by the Somerset Football Association.

In what bodes well for the season ahead, the club was recognised as the ‘Grassroots Club of the Year’ for their work on inclusivity, community and growth. In addition to the club award, the Falcons’ head coach, Jenny Rutter, was also presented as the ‘Disability Coach of the Year’.

Both these awards have been extremely well deserved for a club that has only been running for three years, but is already the largest club in the South West.

On receiving the awards at a training session last month, Jenny said, “It was such a surprise to be presented with not one, but two awards, in front of all our members. Our committee has worked so hard to expand Frome Falcons so that as many people can be playing the sport of powerchair football as possible.

“These awards are for the players, coaches, volunteers, committee members and parents/PAs that make up our football family.

“It’s my job to keep training engaging, interesting and fun for everyone. We are all so pleased and would like to thank Nick Hawkins and Somerset FA for their recognition.”

With the club having members aged 5 to 40, the sport is for anyone of all genders who has a physical disability.

The Falcons train every fortnight at the Frome Sport and Fitness Centre. For any enquiries please contact Jenny:
