THE Frome Musical Theatre Company ‘Showstoppers’ group are busy rehearsing for their forthcoming concert, celebrating 50 years since the group’s inception and remembering its founder and former president of the Frome Musical Theatre Company, Bob Stannard, who recently died.
This year’s concert, in memory of Bob, has a loose theme of ‘Anniversaries’ and includes songs and medleys from shows such as Carmen, which was the first show performed by the group in 1967, My Fair Lady, The Mikado, Merry Widow, Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Paint Your Wagon, Camelot, Oliver, Finian’s Rainbow, Showboat, Me and My Girl and Sweet Charity.
The former Frome Opera Group was formed 50 years ago under the auspices of the Frome Amateur Operatic Society. Over the years both have changed their formats and names to keep up with the times and changing views of audiences.
The concerts take place at the Frome Assembly Rooms on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th October at 7.30pm.
