FROME Ladies Club is holding a dinner to celebrate its 60th year on the 12th October at Frome Assembly rooms and is inviting any past members.
“The Frome Mothers, now the Frome Ladies Club, was formed in 1962 as a support and social club for new mothers,” says the club.
“Its first meetings were held at the health clinic. There were soon 100 members and a waiting list to join. Social outings and parties were held for both the mothers & children. The club also supported Frome Carnival, entering floats for many years and often winning their class.
“The club has also during those years donated many items and cash to local charities and good causes. This year we have chosen to support the new sensory garden at Critchill School which is where meetings are now held on the last Wednesday of the month.
