Friends’ skydive raises over £3,000 in memory of Frome sisters

Two friends of Maddie and Libby North, the Frome sisters who died in a road traffic collision last year, have raised over £3,000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance after skydiving from 10,000ft.   

Lily Breese and Mya Hamilton, who have never skydived before, completed the challenge on 27th July and said it ‘means so much’ to have commemorated the sisters in this way.    

 “The skydive day itself was incredible,” said Lily. “The weather was lovely and hot (though quite cold when plummeting 125mph through clouds!) and we had a great number of supporters with us, including Verity and Jason – the girls’ parents.” 

“To have raised £3k is just fantastic. It’s surpassed all our expectations, and we feel very grateful to everyone who has supported us.  

“It has been an honour to have brought some positivity in light of such a tragedy, and we hope we have done our girls, and their family proud.  

 Mya added,  “It has been an honour to commemorate Maddie and Libby by raising money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, which was the charity chosen by their parents, Verity and Jason. We have raised an incredible amount to date and I am immensely thankful to everyone who has donated so far. It means a lot to be able to support the charity and keep the memory of the girls alive.”   

Mya says she initially met Maddie through working together at Sainsbury’s and they used to spend time together outside of work, which is where Mya developed a close friendship with Libby. Lily says that she first met Maddie at school, having attended the same primary and middle school, as well as Frome College.   

“It means so much to have raised a fantastic amount of money for such a meaningful cause,” said Lily. “The pain of losing the girls will never go away but things like this allow positive memories to emerge from such tragic circumstances.”
