Carbon emissions in Frome fell between 2023 and 2026, according to modelled data from the Green and Healthy Frome project as it draws to a close.
The project, a partnership between Edventure Frome, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council, has supported initiatives ranging from nature-based mental health support and greener homes to reuse and repair projects, local food schemes, active travel and less toxic period products. Funding for the project ends this month.
Total emissions across the town dropped from 181,284 in 2023 to 151,188 in 2026.
Communications lead Annabel Crooke said the project had shown “what is possible when people and organisations work together in new ways.”
She said, “While many resources, services and projects continue, the ideas, knowledge and resources remain woven into our community. We are now evaluating the project’s impact and creating toolkits – coming soon to the Green and Healthy Frome website – so others can learn from its successes and challenges.”

The data shows particular reductions in emissions from goods and services, waste and diet. Consumption of goods and services fell from 64,809 to 49,658. Waste emissions fell to around a third of 2023 levels, and emissions related to food and diet were reduced by more than a quarter.
Annabel added, “While no single project can take credit alone, the figures show that small actions, when taken collectively, can add up. Communities and local organisations that act differently, embracing agency and shared responsibility, can make a real impact for people and the planet.”
The figures are based on modelled data compiled by evaluation partners The Conscious Project and are intended as a guide rather than exact measured totals.
