A PUBLIC consultation is being held this week on plans to build housing on the police station site on Oakfield Road.
After a bidding process, Newland Homes has been selected as the preferred partner for the development of the site.
Jeremy Drew, design director for Newland Homes said, “In essence our proposals are for two, three and four bedroom modest homes for starters and families, though we have just a few one beds too. It is modest, not especially high density – being mainly semi-detached homes mostly with adjacent parking and garaging. The total number is 64.
“Our architectural style will relate to the strong established vernacular local architecture so it will fit in well.
“The site is in a popular residential area, close to schools, in walking distance to local convenience shop and café, and near to children’s play facilities.”
The public consultation is taking place this week on Wednesday 31st July, from 3.00pm-7.00pm, at the Magistrates Court building on Oakfield Road.
The plans are also due to be posted on the website this week, with the opportunity for people to comment. See www.newland homes.co.uk
