FOLLOWING the news that Frome charity Active and In Touch is closing at the end of this month, trustees have said the cafe based at Frome Medical Practice will remain open.
The cafe has become a Community Interest Company (CIC) and will be known as the InTouch Cafe. As a CIC, any profits will be invested in the cafe or donated to local charities that support the lonely and socially isolated in our community.
“The manager, Magda, remains in post, supported by her team of staff and volunteers, so there will still be familiar faces, as well as the friendly atmosphere and varied menu for which the cafe has already become so well-known,” says a spokesperson for the charity.
“If you would like to volunteer to become one of this vibrant team, please do make a visit and talk to Magda.
“Alongside the continuation of the café as a CIC and the befriending service being taken over by Dogs For Health, discussions are still taking place relating to the future of the car drivers and there are grounds for optimism as to the continuation of this valuable service.”
Active and In Touch has supported people in Frome and the surrounding villages who feel lonely or isolated since 2011.
