Edventure: Frome will be sponsoring one young person from Frome to participate in “The Young Ambassadors Programme” in Switzerland this July.
Hosted by Initiatives of Change, a global organisation dedicated to building trust across the world’s divides, housed in a Disney-like castle overlooking lake Geneva – surrounded by breath-taking views, pictured above. It has a really rich history of peace-making and conflict resolution and was home to thousands of Jewish refugees during the 2nd World War.
The Young Ambassadors Programme. is their annual flagship event – a 10-day intensive training for 35 young Europeans who aspire to take an active role in transforming society. It’s goal is to equip young people with the tools to build sustainable positive change on an local, national and international level.
The Programme is competitive and most who apply do not get in. Edventure have reserved one place for a local person. The sponsorship covers full board, lodging, conference and training fee. There’s even an anonymous local benefactor who will cover the cost of flights to and from Switzerland. As part of the training, students also undertake other activities – like walking up the alps to watch the sunset, swimming in Lake Geneva and often visit the United Nations to watch them in session.
If you’re aged 18 to 30 and would like to become part of a European community of young changemakers, this could be an amazing opportunity for you.
To apply, send a statement to Neil Oliver (Edventure Chair) neiloliver@ blueyonder.co.uk by midday 26th April (500 words max) outlining: • Why you would like to attend • What you think you will gain from attending • How you might use your learning for the benefit of our community.
Upon graduation, the Young Ambassadors will join a community of over 180 alumni. Alumni will have the opportunity to join further training and programmes specifically designed for their needs. More details are available at: www.edventurefrome.org/ blog/
