FROME resident Rebecca Krzyzosiak, who entered the 1,000 postcards exhibition for the Black Swan Arts competition, has been inspired to challenge herself to embellish a postcard a day for an entire year.
Rebecca, who is a textile artist and a former student of Frome College and Bath Spa University, started the challenge in July.
She said, “Although textiles and art isn’t my primary job, I’m always creating something. I sell textiles I make through commissions, independent shops or markets.
“I thought that by challenging myself each day to create a small piece of art it would open up my creative channels even more. A blank canvas is both exciting and daunting. I’m not used to working on a really small-scale either, so this is going to be prove especially thought-provoking for me!”
Emma Warren, Black Swan Arts Centre Manager said “We are thrilled to see such inspiring work as a result of our 1,000 Postcards exhibition. It’s so rewarding to see creative talent grow and the commitment each day for a year is really impressive.
“Do follow Rebecca’s Facebook page and give her support and encouragement throughout the challenge.”
Rebecca hopes that the challenge will become a journey expanding on her skills and knowledge.
She added, “The project so far has helped me to let go of inhibitions and worries – not planning pieces, just doing them. Fulfilling the one-a-day art piece means a short and real deadline for each postcard to be completed.”
Rebecca is posting her art work on her ‘365 Postcards’ Facebook page.
