Back-to-back wins for Town

A second half brace from Troy Simpson gave the Robins a second consecutive win, and moves them back in touch with the pack at the bottom of the table as the relegation battle hots up.

Frome produced their second superb performance in a row to come away with a 2-1 victory at play off-chasing Harrow Borough.

With Rickie Scott suspended, Marcus Mapstone injured and Sam Teale injured in the warm up, a whole new back four of Knowles, Roberts, Fletcher and O’Loughlin were relied on to keep their goal secure. Frome dominated the early stages with 3 good chances and a couple of penalty appeals, but were unable to score.

A succession of saves, deflections and resolute defending by both sides were indicating a scoreless half until the 44th minute, when Frome failed to clear a cross from the right, and the ball was bundled in at the near post. 

Frome again came out on the front foot in the second half with a drive and determination to get back in the game. Harrow has a great chance to increase their lead when a far post header hit the woodwork and Frome were able to clear. 

Frome equalised in the 55th when a Joe O’Loughlin shot from range was spilled by the keeper, with Troy Simpson in hand for a simple finish. 

Frome continued to seek the winning goal and got their deserved result in the 85th minute when a Rex Mannings shot was parried, Troy Simpson’s follow up was superbly saved, but he was first to the ball to score his second and deciding goal. Troy Simpson and Rex Mannings shared the man of the match in what was a great team performance, with many worthy candidates. Another three very valuable points were secured.
