A renewable energy co-operative in Frome is celebrating 10 years since its first community-owned solar project began generating electricity for the town.
Frome Renewable Energy Co-operative (FRECo) is entirely volunteer-run and generates enough electricity to power around 300 MWh of energy from the roofs of Frome Medical Practice and Badgers Hill.
To mark its 10th anniversary, everyone is invited to a free anniversary celebration on Monday 20th July, from 4pm to 6pm, at the Bandstand in Victoria Park.

Organisers say, “Whether you’ve invested in a FRECo project, volunteered, supported our work, or are simply interested in community-owned renewable energy, we’d love to see you.
“The afternoon will celebrate what our community has achieved together over the past decade, with stories from organisations supported by the FRECo Community Fund, opportunities to meet partners and supporters and time to connect over light refreshments.
“As we look ahead to the next decade, we’re also seeking new volunteer directors to join our board. We’re particularly interested in people with experience in finance, accounting, investment, or communications, but welcome anyone who wants to help shape Frome’s energy future.”
