THE future of Frome’s children’s carnival club, Little Devils, is under threat if somewhere to build and store their float cannot be found soon.
The club has been running for nearly 11 years and is one of only a few children’s carnival clubs left. The club needs somewhere to store two trailers so they can build their float, as the land they are currently using is due to be built on.
Kirsty Bennett, secretary and treasurer of the club said, “If we can’t find anywhere to build an entry this year we may have to sell everything and we won’t be able to take part in carnivals this year.
“We are hoping to have new members join us for the coming carnival season, but if we don’t have anywhere to build our entry, there will no longer be a local children’s carnival club.
“We take part in carnivals every Saturday throughout September and October from Sturminster Newton to Warminster. We do two weeks throughout November starting in Bridgwater and finishing in Glastonbury. In total we take part in 21 carnivals over the year and this is a real achievement for our children as the youngest child at the moment is four and the eldest child is thirteen.
“This year we would like to bring out an entry of our own. We believe that if we have the help and support of local people then we will be able to manage it.
“We are willing to consider anything including buildings or storing outside. If anyone knows of anywhere we can keep our trailers, we would be very grateful. We are willing to pay rent for land if required.”
