YOUNG children and their parents visited Rossetti House on Monday 11th December to join the residents and sing some Christmas classics.
Willow Harwood and Rosie Schura, leaders of intergenerational music group ‘Singing Social’ hold singing groups with the elderly twice a month.
Willow said, “We had around 30 people in attendance at today’s session. We sang a mixture of traditional songs as well as some Christmas classics. The children all received a gift and good fun was had by all!”
There is lots of friendly interaction between the residents and the children and quite often residents will tell stories of the time when they had young children, and fondly recite nursery rhymes and share parenting advice. The residents love to watch the children play.
Singing Social will be running a crowdfunding campaign in 2018 in order to raise funds to expand and deliver Singing Social in more care homes.
