Christmas has arrived in Frome with festive lights, fundraising displays and community events across the town.
Thousands of residents filled the town centre for the annual lantern parade and Christmas lights switch-on in November, marking the start of the festivities. Since then, a range of Christmas events has been taking place, including local residents holding their own Christmas lights displays to raise funds for charities such as Fair Frome.
Christ Church hosted a Christmas tree festival, with various groups decorating trees and often raising funds for local causes. The Frome Lions and Rotary Club Santa Float has been travelling around residential streets, also raising money for charity.

The Lions Club’s annual Tree of Remembrance is in place, with a special carol evening bringing residents together to bless the tree.
A donation from Frome Town Rotary enabled 100 children and adults to attend theatre performances this Christmas with the local charity Purple Elephant.
Local theatres are putting on festive shows, including Frome Musical
Theatre Company’s pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Memorial Theatre, Crimes Against Christmas at the Merlin Theatre, and Cara Dillon’s winter show at the Cheese and Grain. Frome Town Band will also perform their annual Christmas concert at the Merlin.
A special Christmas Day meal for 200 residents who are feeling lonely or struggling financially has also been organised by local volunteers.
Other festive events have included Christmas concerts at local venues and churches, while schools have held Christmas fairs and nativity performances.
Mayor Anita Collier said, “The festive season in Frome has been packed with fun and entertainment for all ages, with crafts, wreath making, concerts, shows, late night shopping, live music and food on offer across the town, with many events raising money for fabulous local causes. It was a privilege to start the proceedings as your Mayor with the switching on of the Christmas lights in November.”
