For nearly 15 years the Frome Farmers’ Market at the Cheese & Grain has served the town.
The market includes up to 36 farmers and producers bringing whatever is local and seasonal, sometimes traditional, often innovative but always of exceptional quality. In fact this year has seen the market gaining regional recognition winning a Gold Taste of the West award for the range and quality of produce.
Louise Hall, Somerset Farmers’ Markets coordinator said, “As we creep towards the festive season the market takes on an extra sparkle with additional gifts amongst the fresh produce such as chocolates and Somerset Lavender, Avalon wines and gift packs of Fussel’s dressings!
“We hold two markets in December, our usual on Saturday 13th, 9.00am-1.00pm and then the ‘Big One’ which is an evening event this year on Tuesday 23rd December, 5.00pm- 7.30pm, timed so that customers can come straight from work to pick up everything for the holiday season.
“It has become a tradition in the town to collect your turkey, brussel sprouts and chipolatas at this event plus of course your Boxing Day cheeses and chutneys.
“It is advised to pre-order bigger items such as the ‘Christmas Bird’ either at the 13th December market or visit the producer’s directory of our web-site to contact directly www.somersetfarmersmarkets.co.uk.”
