ST JOHN’S Church in Frome is ready for this year’s shoebox collection and will be open as a drop off point over the coming weeks.
Organiser John Henderson said, “This year the church will once again be joining The Trussell Trust’s Christmas Box Appeal and helping to show abandoned and rejected men, women and children in Bulgaria and Serbia that someone cares.
“A total of over 10,000 Christmas Boxes, filled with small toys, sweets, hats and scarves, toiletries and other goodies, were donated by the trust last year, spreading a little joy to those living in poverty.
“For many, a Christmas box will be the only present they receive this Christmas.
“None of this would be possible without the help of our community here in Frome. Will you help us to show those living with so little that we are thinking of them?”
The church on Bath Street is an official collection point and leaflets containing guidance and instructions are available inside.
The deadline for bringing boxes is Sunday 20th November; boxes can be handed in to the volunteer staff of the Cards for Good Causes shop in the church, open daily.
