When it comes to performing arts, Frome is blessed. It is home to two theatres, a major live music venue, numerous pub venues, poetry cafés, private hire venues, late-night dancing, and plenty of other places to see local, national and international artistes. The diversity of entertainment available is the envy of many other towns.
The town council’s Performing Arts Panel wants to hear views from people who attend all kinds of events, from gigs to plays, performances and poetry, to dancing and live comedy. Anyone who “goes out” in Frome is welcome to come along and contribute their views at the next meeting which is dedicated to hearing from audiences, on Tuesday 16th August 7pm at the Assembly Rooms, Christchurch Street West, Frome.
Musician and Deputy Mayor Al O’Kane who is leading the panel said, “We want to hear from residents as well as those who come to Frome from surrounding areas and attend events of all kinds here in Frome – do they feel anything is missing from the cultural calendar? How can we as a town council better support entertainment in Frome? Some might say there is almost too much going on, whilst others might think that there is not enough for some sections of the town – younger music fans or classical music lovers maybe, for example. Does the town provide entertainment for everyone?
“We want to hear what is good, and what needs improving – so if you’ve been in an audience recently please do come along and let the town council know how we can better address your needs. As with all panel meetings, everyone is welcome to attend. Our final Performing Arts Panel meeting is in September and will be a round-up of the main points we’ve learnt from the previous panel meetings.”
