Frome bowler Duncan McGovern attended the Bowls Somerset presentation lunch on 4th November and was presented with the Open Singles Championship trophy for the third time, having previously won it in 2013 and 2015, incidentally losing 21-20 in the 2014 semi final.
Duncan and his playing partner, Sue Crouch, were also runners-up in the County Mixed Pairs.
Playing for Bath Bowling Club in the Premier League for the last eight years, Duncan is pleased to be cutting down on time and travel and is returning to Frome Selwood in the summer, for whom he played in seasons 2008 – 2010. “Although the men have been relegated to East 2 Division, there is only one way to go now and that is up,” said Duncan.
Duncan considers Selwood to have one of the better greens in the county and he is looking forward to playing there again next season in national, county and club competitions.
