PEOPLE from all across the country flocked to Frome’s own independent record store to scoop super limited vinyl as part of World Record Store Day.
Raves from the Grave, situated on Cheap Street, took part in the international initiative which aims to promote independent record stores across the world. Each year, participating record stores are able to order in limited edition vinyl records that would be “near impossible” to find elsewhere. Owner of Raves from the Grave Richard Churchyard, was met with a queue outside his shop, made up of record collecting enthusiasts and curious new customers, all hoping to scoop the most limited edition vinyl possible. He said, “We had limited edition vinyl from Sex Pistols, The Clash, Guns’n’Roses and many more. The list of what’s available is made public knowledge about a month beforehand via a national publication. After that, the phone has been ringing non-stop asking what I will have in. On World Record Store Day we cannot withhold orders in the limited vinyl that comes in on the day, so it’s a first-come, first-served basis. “There were people from all across the country who travelled to Frome especially for the day. “It took me back to when I was a kid and queuing to pick up the latest Slade single, there was a real excited buzz about the place.” Raves from the Grave has recently celebrated its 15th anniversary in business. As well as vinyl, Richard also stocks chart CDs and DVDs. For more information contact the store on 01373 464666.
