A FROME teenager will see his international film project, Films4Europe premiered at the Merlin Theatre in September.
After finishing his A-levels in July last year, 18 year-old Harry Foreman decided to spend his gap year teaching filmmaking to young people, with friends from Frome’s twin town in Germany.
Films4Europe is a creative collaboration between Frome’s twin towns – Château-Gontier in France, Murrhardt in Germany, and Rabka-Zdrój in Poland.
Harry said, “In the project we made four films from four countries in Europe. We have now combined them into one ‘Film4Europe’, which will be used to promote town twinning, cultural exchange, and will hopefully encourage young people to be more engaged with their friends abroad.
“The concept of the project was that young people from each town would make a short film. Each of these films were to show the young people’s lifestyles, local culture, and also what they are proud of in their town.
“The outcome of the project is one that is truly unique, and demonstrates well the importance of inter-cultural relations.”
Harry worked with Claramarie Sternagel and Olga Berroth on the project. Clara is from Murrhardt in Germany, Olga being from Ulm, south of Murrhardt. The two met at university studying film and culture studies. The three then joined forces at a town twinning event, therefore beginning the project.
Harry added, “On Saturday 9th September we shall be premiering the four films, alongside a background to the project and some stories about our journey. This is following a very successful premier in Murrhardt, which was a sell-out event. Tickets for the showing are free.”
The team blogged about the project online at www.films4europe.eu and on their ‘Films4Europe’ Facebook page.
