With just a few weeks to go until curtain up, the Frome Musical Theatre Company is busy rehearsing for their production of ‘Hairspray’.
Organisers say, “The Frome Memorial Theatre is the venue for the production which runs from Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th May. Tickets are selling well so book now to avoid disappointment, it’s sure to be a show stopper not to be missed!
“As always, the company aims to produce a professional experience for audiences and the performers by hiring quality professional set, costumes, lighting design, wigs and a live orchestra.
“This is very costly and so the group is extremely appreciative of two local businesses who have agreed to sponsor the show. They are the long established and successful Part 2 Hair Salon based in King Street, Frome and vintage costume hire and clothes boutique Frank and Elsie, based in Bradford on Avon.”
Barbara Gregorczyk, owner of Part 2 Salon said, “Part 2 were delighted to be asked to sponsor Hairspray; not only do we love the show but we love Frome Musical Theatre Company and all that they produce with such great talent and dedication with every performance. Such great all-round entertainment, it’s like the West End’s come to Frome and the salon cannot wait to see everyone on Saturday 16th May.
“So ladies, to get the Tracy Turnblad look for the ‘show week’ we are offering our own hairspray at half price, remember…. You Can’t Stop the Beat ‘cause we can’t stop singing along to the sound track – happy back combing and good luck to Frome Musical Theatre Company!”
Ellen, Dora and Astrid from Frank and Elsie have grown up with Frome Musical Theatre Company, having joined Spellbound over 10 years ago. Both Dora and Astrid continue to tread the boards (and you’ll spot them both in Hairspray), however Ellen’s interests changed and she studied theatre production at Bath Spa University, specialising in stage management and costume design. Ellen can now be found in the wings for most FMTC productions and will be running the props for Hairspray.
The sisters decided to combine several of their passions once they’d finished studying which resulted in Frank and Elsie, their vintage and retro shop in Bradford on Avon and also their theatrical costume hire service. They said, “We decided Hairspray was the ideal show to sponsor with its 60s setting and amazing hair and costumes. It fits perfectly with Frank and Elsie’s style.”
