ONE of Frome’s most popular events is at last back! Running across the last weekend of April with an added preview Friday evening of 29th April from 6-8pm, the Frome Art Fair offers a chance to meet and buy direct from a wonderful variety of artists.
Frome Art Fair is a charity event, with all profit made going to local cancer counselling charity We Hear You.
This year stalls selling artwork are in the Silk Mill and the nearby Bennett Centre on Vicarage street. And for the first time, a series of artist-run workshops has been programmed alongside the art sales which will take place in the Undercroft of the Bennett Centre and in the Round Tower at Black Swan Arts.
Full day workshops are at the Round Tower and cost £80 per person.
Saturday’s workshop (10.30-3.30) is run by Mel Day who invites you to build a scene including figures, creatures and scenery using clay, wood and wire.
Sunday’s workshop (10.30-3.30) hosted by Steven Jenkins teaches the basics of collage in which you will create a multi layered illustration of a vase of flowers.
The Bennett Centre hosts shorter workshops as follows:
Saturday 10.30-12.30 – for anyone aged 6+ to use watercolours to paint and create colourful giant butterflies lead by Polly Alizarin Harvey. Price just £15.
Saturday afternoon – drop in bunting decoration for all the family. Simply make a donation to WHY on the day.
Sunday morning (10-12) – create your own mountain print with printmaker Angela Lai Yen. £45 including all materials.
Sunday afternoon (2-4pm) – make a clay animal with Jenny Barton, author of ’How to make simple Clay Models – British Wildlife’. Workshop cost £35.
