FROME-based theatre company Rare Species are making their sell-out comedy ‘Frome – The Fecund Coming’ a regular fixture, running once a month until December.
Rare Species are comedy partners Ginny Adams and Neil Fowler, who crafted their art over 25 years under the artistic directorship of Ralph Oswick at the award winning Natural Theatre Company.
‘Frome – The Fecund Coming’ is a comedy walking tour which rewrites the history of the town and offers some interesting insights into its popularity. The show, which has had sell-out success in Bath and this year’s Frome Festival, will run every third Thursday of every Monday, starting this Thursday 16th August.
Their non-venue based show was devised and written by Rare Species as an antidote to stuffy traditional walking tours and a way in which they could develop their creative portfolio in their home town, utilising their skills in non-venue based theatre.
It is great story-telling based partly in truth and historic fact and it is written to make the audience laugh. They leave having had a thoroughly enthralling night of entertainment, audience participation, song and surprise.
They also get to stretch their legs and look up at eaves, nooks, crannies and architectural details they have never even noticed before. They are re-awakened to what has become familiar and the next time they pass a certain spot they will think of this alternative tale and it will make them smile again.
Tickets are £10 and shows will continue every third Thursday of the month until December. If you are attending one of the shows, the meeting point is at the top of Cheap Street, near the Holy Well, BA11 1BH for a 7pm start.
Tickets are available from https://rarespecies uk.brownpapertickets.com. The show is aimed at those over the age of 14.
