HELLO EVERYONE… Welcome to our Carnival. All of the proceeds from our Carnival Events is put into our Registered Charity Account (after deducting any expenses) which is then used to help local people and groups in and around Frome who are in need.
We are changing the way in which we distribute our monies each year. We will decide to help various groups and local projects and individuals who will receive a donation after the street collection on Carnival Day. Further information is given by our Trustees in our programme.
I would as usual like to thank the members of the Rotary who work so hard to organise the collection on our behalf. We really could not manage without them. Also of course, the members of the Lions who transport our Ambassadors during Carnival time to our nursing homes and our hospital, so that the occupants can feel part of our Carnival and last but by no means least, a big thank you to our small but very hard working committee members who work hard all year to make sure that our annual Carnival is successful.
Thank you to anyone who volunteers to help us and I hope you all enjoy this event and that you give generously so that we can continue to help local people in need.
June Barnes M.B.E
Hon Chairman
FROME Carnival committee would like to inform the public that roads will be closed on Saturday 22nd September for the Children’s Carnival procession.
The following roads will have NO PARKING and will be closed from 1pm on the 22nd of September for the Children’s Carnival procession. Please DO NOT park after 1pm.
Weymouth Road (Frome Ecos Court to the junction of Christchurch Street West), Somerset Road (From the junction of Queens Road to the Junction of the Butts), Weymouth Road (From the Somerset road junction to the junction of Ecos Court) – Between 13:00 hours and 17:00 hours;
And Wesley Slope, Butts Hill, The Butts, Christchurch Street West, Christchurch Street East, Gorehedge – Between 14:00 hours and 17:00 hours.
To reduce impact on local traffic a rolling closure is put in place reducing the time each section is closed. The closures will go in all at the same time 13:00 and 14:00 respectively.
Closures are maintained only so long as to allow the procession to safely clear each of the 4 zones. Roads are opened as soon as it is safe to do so under the supervision of the Lead Marshal for each zone having first been given permission by the Silver Control.Please do not park in the parking bays in front of the church and old fire station as this is a viewing area.
Please leave room for the Carnival!
FROME Carnival Committee is urging people to be mindful of where they park.
The carnival committee has asked that residents and visitors park their cars considerately, and keep the roads clear to make way for carnival floats. Bear in mind that a float as big as a lorry may need to fit through the space.
Parking restrictions will be in force along the carnival route. Cars will NOT be able to park along Weymouth Road or Christchurch Street West. Parking along here blocks the procession and makes it dangerous for the children in the procession. We respectfully ask that all residents along the route please park elsewhere for the few hours the roads are closed. Thank you for helping your carnival.
