Frome charity urgent appeal for monthly donors

A Charity in Frome is urgently appealing for new monthly donors to help protect its free counselling and peer-support services for parents across the town and the surrounding area.

Frome Birth Talk provides free counselling and daily drop-in peer support groups for parents experiencing perinatal mental health challenges. Support is available for anyone in the Frome area who is pregnant or who has had or lost a baby or pregnancy within the last two years.

While many clients choose to donate after receiving support, the charity stresses that monthly giving is the most powerful way to sustain the service and ensure it remains accessible to those who cannot afford therapy elsewhere.

It currently receives around £750 per month in regular donations but to keep its specialist counselling free, this needs to double to £1,500 per month.

Operations Manager at Frome Birth Talk, Lucy Hill said, “Everyone in our community knows someone who has been helped by Frome Birth Talk. Having a bank of regular monthly donors allow us to plan ahead, stay sustainable, and keep our service free for families who need us most. Even a monthly donation of £2 or £5 would be a strong way to show your support for Frome Birth Talk and help us keep going.”

Frome Birth Talk receives no government or regular institutional funding and relies heavily on community generosity. Each year, Frome Birth Talk receives around 200 self-referrals for counselling.

Those unable to donate are encouraged to share the appeal with friends, family, or local businesses who may be able to support.
