Students at Frome College have celebrated strong results across A-level, GCSE and other qualifications.
Sixth Form students collected their A-level and Post-16 results on 13th August. This year, 152 Frome College students sat a total of 444 exams across 36 subjects, with more than 51% achieving grade B or higher.
Subject highlights included mathematics, where 62% of students achieved grade B or higher, while more than 50% of art grades were A or A*. In chemistry and physics, 55% of students achieved grade B or above, while 70% achieved grade B or above in English literature.
In applied business, 100% of students achieved Merit or above for the second year running, with 70% gaining Distinction or higher. In sport, 80% achieved Distinction or Distinction*, while 75% achieved Double Distinction or higher in Double Sport.
Year 11 students collected their GCSE and BTEC results on 20th August, with the college reporting ‘strong outcomes’ across a range of subjects.
In Spanish, 92% of students achieved grade 5 or above, with an average grade of 6. In physics, 96% achieved grade 5 or above, with an average grade of 7 across the year group.
In drama, 24% of students achieved the highest grade 9, while 12% achieved grade 9 in media. More than 67% of SEND students surpassed their target grades across their GCSEs.
The college also said its results showed a smaller gender gap than seen nationally, particularly in maths, where girls outperformed boys at grade 4 and above.
Principal Emma Reynolds congratulated students on their achievements.
Simon Steele, Chair of Governors, said, “On behalf of the governing body I want to congratulate all students receiving results. Students should be very proud of what they have achieved and the results are a testament to their hard work and dedication.
“Governors would also like to thank the committed college staff and families who have supported students to achieve these great results.”
