Parlez-vous francais? Do you speak French? And would you like to practice speaking it?
That is what Frome Community Education want to know as they launch their new range of courses for the Spring term.
Tutor Sara Gibbons, who already teaches a very popular Spanish conversation class or “Tertulia” has agreed to lead a conversation class for those who have prior knowledge of French and wish to build on their conversational ability.
“It will be a very informal class” says Sara, “I hope students will enjoy speaking French in a supportive environment”.
The French conversation class has been added in direct response to several students requesting it.
Programme manager Pia McGee is keen to hear what other courses people may wish to see appearing in the termly brochure. “Frome Community Education is a Community Interest Company and we are keen for courses to reflect the needs and interests of the people of Frome,” she said.
“If you have an idea for a course that you would like to attend (especially if you know of other people who would like to do it too!) then please don’t hesitate to email us at info@fromecommed.org.uk”
Other new courses starting next term include “Climate Change? How Does It Concern Me and Mine?” – a course that asks students to choose what areas they wish to focus on and identify what actions they can take in our own lives to tackle this issue.
There is also “Marsden Hartley and Robert Indiana – A Conversation Through Time” which aims to compare the lives and works of two great American painters. New arts and crafts courses include “Weaving Plant Supports and Bird Feeders,” the opportunity to “Wake Up Your New Year’s Creativity with Collage,” as well as “Diving Into Watercolours” with the option to try both “Mastering Shapes” and “Atmospheric Landscapes”.
