With an exciting summer on the horizon, Frome Cricket Club is stepping up preparations for a league title challenge in 2019 with a tough pre-season. An extensive set of friendlies will commence in early April, starting with a club tour to the north east.
The 1st and 2nd XIs will travel to Newcastle where they will play Boldon CC from the North East Premier League on the 6th and 7th April. The club says, “These tough games in ‘extreme’ conditions will stand the sides in good stead as they build towards the league season beginning in May.
“In addition to the North East trip, the Showmen will also be hosting a range of pre-season fixtures throughout April:-
Sunday 14th April – Frome 2nd XI vs Potterne 2nd XI
Saturday 20th April – Frome 2nd XI vs Kilmington and Stourton 1st XI
Saturday 27th April – Frome 1st XI vs Warminster 1st XI
Sunday 28th April – Frome 3rd XI vs Cranmore 2nd XI.
“Spectators are welcome and encouraged to come along and enjoy the club’s friendly atmosphere with bar and hot drinks available.
“Frome Cricket Club operate three Saturday sides and a Sunday XI, catering for all abilities; two Ladies’ teams and a thriving Youth section from U9 to U15s.
“Signing on for the Youth section, for any players aged 8 through to 18 years of age, will take place at the Cricket Club on Friday 12th April from 6.00pm. The Youth membership fee is £30 and includes membership for all the family.
“The club head coach, Robin Lett, supported by other coaching staff, leads the youth training every Friday evening at the club from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. There is a friendly, family atmosphere, with drinks and snacks available.
