Frome fundraiser Rachel Clark is once again raising vital funds for Frome cancer counselling charity, We Hear You (WHY), with a community tug-of-war event at the Old Showfield next month.
Mixed teams of six adults and juniors are invited to take part in the event on Sunday 19th October, at a cost of £5 per person.
All proceeds will be donated to WHY, which offers free specialist emotional support for children, young people, and adults affected by cancer.
Rachel Clark, a long-standing fundraiser in Frome for WHY, last year completed a year-long running challenge, which saw her run one mile every day for the charity, alongside members of the community.
She has been raising funds for WHY for over a decade. Along the way, she has broken two Guinness World Records, was a finalist in the ITV Pride of Britain Awards, won the Institute of Fundraising’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2020, and was named Frome Times’ Person of the Year in 2018.
She said that after some big physical challenges, she wanted to take away the logistical stress.
“Like the mile a day, I thought it would be something everyone can get involved with,” said Rachel. “This tug-of-war event will be a competition held on grass at the Old Showfield and I’m inviting mixed teams to come along and tug for WHY.”
