Residents across Frome can visit energy-efficient properties to see retrofit projects first-hand during an event this autumn.
A range of properties will open their doors from Saturday 14th to Sunday 15th November as part of the Frome Green Open Homes launch weekend.
Visitors can view energy-efficiency improvements in real homes and talk directly to the people who have made them.
Some households are just beginning their retrofit journey and have received a free whole-house assessment through Frome Town Council’s Healthy Homes programme. Others have already made improvements, ranging from simple, low-cost measures to larger investments such as insulation, solar panels and air source heat pumps.
Cllr Sara Butler said, “There is no single approach to creating a more energy-efficient home. Every property is different and improvements can be made gradually to suit different homes, needs and budgets. Seeing these changes in a real home and talking to someone who has already made them can make a huge difference. You can see what is possible, find out what things cost and get ideas for your own home. There will be examples of small changes as well as larger projects, so there should be something for everyone.”
The Healthy Homes team will also offer information on free home energy advice, home visits and personalised energy plans.
Participating properties will host a mix of drop-in sessions and scheduled visits. Booking details and property listings are available at frome.greenopenhomes.net.
