FROME Independent Market has been nominated as one of Britain’s Favourite Markets.
The award is run by Love Your Local Market and is part of the Great British Market Awards. The competition saw nominations made for markets held all over the UK, with the winner set to be announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on Thursday 29th January.
Frome Independent first started in 2009 under the guise of St Catherine’s Artisan Market and has quickly risen to become one of the most well supported and celebrated events of the Frome calendar, bringing together thousands of local people and tourists each month.
Since then, it has been rebranded as Frome Super Market before being re-launched again under its current guise, The Frome Independent.
A Frome Independent Market spokesperson said, “We’re thrilled to have been nominated and flattered to be in some very good company. We would hope that we have been nominated because we strive to be ‘more than a market’ and try to make sure that the first Sunday of the month in Frome not only holds plenty of retail therapy but also creates space for community, culture and conversation.
“It is a fantastic national platform for our efforts to be recognised on and even to be nominated feels like a great marker of our success so far.”
The market is open on the first Sunday of each month between March and December.
