Like so many other sports club, Frome Park Bowls Club has been closed due to Covid-19, but the club has now re-opened, with precautions put in place for players.
The club reports, “The summer has started really well with gorgeous sunny weather which is like rubbing salt in the wound when you are unable to play.
“During the lockdown a few hardy and dedicated members have continued to carry out work around the club. This has been a real labour of love, working hard in keeping the flower borders tidy and cutting the green twice a week. Their hard work in difficult circumstances with social distancing and initially using their exercise time to attend the club has to be admired and the club are so lucky to have such dedicated members. They have kept the green in perfect condition and it looks superb.
“In the first week of June, with lockdown measures easing and under guidance from the English Bowling Association, the club opened the green for members to start playing. This is great news and all their hard work means the club is immediately ready to go with a green begging to be played on. All the precautions have been put in place and all members have been given the rules for safe play and sanitizing the playing equipment.
“Currently members can only play singles and only six people on the green in total at any one session but it’s a start. Hopefully if this works successfully, then the club will proceed to start playing pairs games so as the weeks pass, more members will be able to get out and enjoy a game of bowls.
