Frome Refresh is back in action again, since the start of the new school year.
Lesley Hooper, Frome Refresh coordinator reports, “The amazing generosity of individuals and groups enabled us to support somewhere around 100 young people in six local schools during the last academic year.
“Drop off points for donations of toiletries and sanitary pads are Cooper and Tanner, Superdrug (pink Beauty Banks box – all the donations come straight to us) and Frome Town Hall. Feedback from students was so positive and they love the smaller, discreet packs of san pads rather than the big old fashioned bulky things! We are now set to support around 150 youngsters this school year, in eight schools.
“Sadly, the need continues to grow but the support of people in Frome has been just incredible. Please, please, keep helping us and spread the word far and wide.
“A number of local groups have once again given us money that helps us to buy items that haven’t been donated, so that each young person receives the full pack of basic toiletries every half term. We acknowledge the generous support of Frome Independent Market, Frome Lions, Frome Rotary, Frome Selwood Rotary, Beckington and Standerwick WI, Frome Inner Wheel
“We have had a big donation of toothpaste, so please buy something else instead! This is our regular list, for girls: shampoo, antiperspirant, shower gel, toothbrush, san pads; for boys: hair/bodywash, antiperspirant, toothbrush; for children: kids’ shampoo, kids’ bubble bath, toothbrush. The shelves are very bare at the moment – we urgently need the kids’ items, and girls’ shampoo for the nest delivery, after half term.
“Please do find us for regular updates, on Face book @Frome Refresh. If your group would like to have a special collection for us as a one-off, or regularly, then we would be delighted!”
