Stars started the game well determined to get an early lead.
Amelia Pratten and Kate Smith worked the ball round well and with great vision found the shooters, Georgia Cox and Hannah Dredge who continued their great form from the previous game. Stars lost Kate due to injury and was replaced by Alice Millard at WA. Alice worked well with Amelia and the shooters meaning Stars gained an early lead of 11-5.
The second quarter saw Sophie Garton, Kathy Dredge and Sheri Pleasants continue to work hard in defence applying the pressure to the Corsham attackers and forcing errors. In slippery conditions, Stars kept composed and worked the ball round well. Sophie G and Sheri helped bring the ball through court to the attacking third and the shooters continued to hold off pressure from the Corsham defence thus extending their lead to 19-10.
Second half, coach Sally made some changes. Sophie Cox returned to the centre position with Alice replacing Sheri at WD and Amelia taking up the WA bib. This altered Stars flow slightly as defence was very tight on but Georgia and Hannah continued to show great patience along with Sophie and Amelia working the ball round the circle to find the shooters. Stars applied magnificent defensive pressure all over the court marking every pass.
Sophie G, Alice and Kathy worked tirelessly to deny the Corsham shooters opportunities at goal, only allowing Corsham to score twice meaning Stars, sponsored by Wessex Drains and Dennis Maps, extended their lead to 29-12.
Last quarter and Stars wanted to extend their lead further and create a good goal difference at the end of the season. Alice, Kathy and Sophie G applied mountains of pressure to the Corsham players creating many turn over opportunities. Great passages of play from defence to attack allowed Sophie C and Sheri to feed the ball into the shooters who continued on great form. Some excellent rotation and working of the circle allowed Georgia and Hannah to put shots up.
Another great squad performance from Stars saw them win 46-18. Player of the match was awarded to Hannah Dredge and Players’ player awarded jointly to Hannah and Kathy Dredge.
