A Frome theatre is calling for volunteers to join its team and help deliver a packed line-up for the autumn and winter season.
The Merlin Theatre is reaching out to people with a few hours to spare and encouraging them to become part of its volunteer team.
Director Claudia Pepler said, “The Merlin theatre has been a cornerstone of Frome’s cultural landscape for a long time, providing a platform for professional and amateur performers as well as offering its audiences and participants workshops, classes, National Theatre screenings, films and music. Like most of Frome, we punch well above our weight, but that is only possible thanks to our volunteers.
“We are so lucky to have a team of cheery, welcoming people who generously give their time, but we need more of these Frome gems! In return for their sunny disposition and about 4 hours a fortnight, we offer the opportunity to see free shows, training, the joy of making new friends and, of course, free ice cream!”
The autumn and winter line-up includes entertainment from Mark Thomas, Andy Parsons, Michael Spicer, Rory Bremner, Kane Brown and Boothby Graffoe, plus more.
Professional touring theatre companies will bring plays including romantic physical comedy ‘A Brief Case of Crazy’ and a two-week seasonal run of ‘Crimes on the Christmas Express’ from New Old Friends.
Community theatre productions include local theatre group Frome Drama, as well as a brand-new folk-punk musical and the Merlin’s traditional in-house Christmas production, which this year will be ‘Frozen, the Musical’.
Anyone interested in joining the Merlin as a steward or box office assistant does not need previous experience and is encouraged to get in touch by emailing merlincoordinator@gmail.com.
The theatre also welcomes people with previous team management or similar experience to apply for a front of house manager role.
