FROME Youth Choir has begun a new term and welcomes new members from Frome and the surrounding area. The choir is run by Jo Richards and Steph Collishaw who are both trained musicians and teachers.
“We are a growing choir providing opportunities for young people to share and develop their singing and musical skills in a friendly and fun environment. We begin rehearsals this term on Thursday 21st September from 5.30pm until 6.45pm at The Steiner School, Park Road, Frome.
“We would love to hear from any young singers who wish to join us this year – for more information and a registration form please contact fromeyouth choir@btinternet.com or visit our Facebook page. The first session for new members is free!”
The choir once again filled Christ Church with a supportive and enthusiastic audience for its Summer Concert on Sunday 2nd July.
The 45-strong choir, ranging in age from 6-18 years, performed songs from well-known musicals such as Oliver!, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. “It was a tremendous concert by everyone and we are enormously proud of the choir members for their dedication and hard work – they are all amazing!” said musical directors Steph Collishaw and Jo Richards
This was the last concert performance with Frome Youth Choir for Christian Wye who performed a brilliant and moving rendition of ‘Empty Tables, Empty Chairs’ from Les Miserables as part of the concert. Christian has attended Frome Youth Choir since the age of 6 and is now leaving to take up a place at Warwick University to read mathematics this term. “Christian’s commitment and contribution to the choir have been outstanding – he will be greatly missed and we wish him every success as he starts this exciting chapter of his life. Enormous thanks too go to Brigitte, Christian’s mum, who has been involved in the running of the choir for many years and provided such great support,” said Jo and Steph.
