Have you got an amazing talent that you’ve been hiding? Can you sing? Can you dance? Well, now is your chance to shine as the Rotary Club of Frome presents Frome’s Got Talent.
Britain’s Got Talent is back on our screens but this weekend, it’s all about the talent in Frome.
“Preparations are going well and many people are becoming excited by the opportunity to show off their talent on a stage in a first class theatre,” said Norman Elmer of the Frome Musical Theatre Company which is organising the event along with the Rotary Club.
“Open auditions will take place on the stage at the Frome Memorial Theatre on Sunday 24th April from 2.30pm in front of three judges and an audience.
“So far, most of the entries are singers and musicians, but we have some young dancers as well. It would be really good if there are any comedians, or circus performers who would like to enter. There are two age groups, 13 and under and 14 and over. There will be a winning act in each group who will receive a cash prize and a trophy to be presented by our Mayor.
“If you haven’t entered the competition, why not go along and support those who have, you’re sure to be entertained. It’s a chance to see some of Frome’s finest talents and have a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
“The finalists may be invited to perform again or the winners may be announced straight away. The afternoon will be compered by well-known comedian and raconteur Ralph Jerram, who will keep the audience entertained between acts.
“The winners will also be invited to perform in Frome Rotary’s ‘For One Night Only’ in March 2017. Also, the performances will be recorded in audio and broadcast by Frome FM and the Rotary Club’s own Ernie McKenna of “Frome Film and Video Makers” will be producing a DVD for offer to the performers. An added bonus for the audience will be performances by FMTC (Frome Musical Theatre Company) with a preview of one or two numbers from their forthcoming production of “Sister Act,” and by Danceworks, who will be showing what they can do whilst the judges decide.”
The theatre will be open to the public and tickets priced at £5 (£3 concessions) are available from the theatre’s box office on 01373 462795 or online at www.fmt.website To enter the contest please email elmer@roddenbury.co.uk
If there is sufficient call, pre-show lunches will be available in the Assembly Rooms. Money raised from the event will be donated to Frome Rotary charities.
