FROME Development Community Interest Company (FDCIC) is delighted to have agreed a further two grants for community groups.
The CIC’s remit is to offer funding to individuals, groups and organisations to enable them to undertake projects in Frome. The latest grants fit this very well.
Young People Frome – Frome Children’s Festival:
Plans for a series of activities and workshops over the last week in July and August, as well as taster sessions at Easter, culminating in a one-day Children’s Festival have been developing for some time.
Frome Children’s Centres, FROGS and a range of other groups will work together with Young People Frome to add this festival to the others which Frome boasts. Particular attention has been given to ensuring a wide range of children and their families can take part.
The CIC awarded £5,500 which adds to funds already raised by Aster Communities and (by FROGS) of £3,000 from Frome Town Council.
Frome Toy Library:
The CIC previously funded the toy library with their work to lend toys to ‘under 5s’, play sessions, singing, and other events. It was hoped that this funding would enable the toy library to gain funds from elsewhere to ensure they could continue – but this has not yet been possible.
The CIC has now offered to work with the toy library with a total grant of up to £3,484 over six months, providing that they are able to show real progress in terms of building a structure and fundraising potential.
This is a good example of CIC directors working together with a local group to try and achieve their joint objectives of strengthening groups providing vital services to Frome.
The next round of grant making will be on 1st April this year. All the details of how to apply, including broader criteria for giving, are on the website at www.fromedevelopmentcic.org.uk.
