Join the great-granddaughter of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and social campaigner Helen Pankhurst as she discusses her book ‘Deeds Not Words’ at an event in Frome next month.
The event has been organised by local photographer Drew Gardner who photographed Helen as part of exhibition, ‘The Descendants’, which involves Drew recreating portraits of famous historical figures with their direct descendants. For the exhibition Drew recreated an image of Helen’s great-grandmother, Emeline Pankhurst, who was part of the British suffragette movement, campaigning for women’s rights.
“I found her a most inspiring person,” said Drew. “At the event Helen will reflect on the incredible legacy of the Pankhurst’s and the campaign for women’s suffrage. It will be an interactive talk based on the book, looking at suffragettes, how far we have come in the last 100 years and what we think we still need to do.”
‘An evening with Helen Pankhurst’ takes place on Friday 3rd May, 7.30pm, at the Town Hall. Tickets cost £8 and are available via https://bit.ly/2UoJZJ9
