FROME FM will be broadcasting an exclusive feature on Thunderbirds this weekend, after the classic programme was resurrected briefly last year.
Over the last two months, FromeFM has worked with the Thunderbirds production team to produce an exclusive radio feature. In the documentary, ‘Introducing Thunderbirds 1965’, FromeFM goes behind the scenes on the set of Thunderbirds and talks to the producers about the pleasures and pains of working with puppets, and how they had to re-discover the filmmaking techniques from 50 years ago that made Thunderbirds such an iconic TV show. The feature also includes exclusive pre-release audio clips from the new stories.
Last year, film maker Stephen La Rivierre launched a project to make new episodes of Thunderbirds, using the original cast voices, recreating the iconic puppets and models as part of ITV’s celebration of the show’s 50th anniversary. In December the filming concluded and in January all of the new episodes were screened at the ICA in London – the first new Thunderbirds episodes made in Supermarionation in 50 years.
‘Introducing Thunderbirds 1965’ is available to listen now on-line at
