over 20 big-hearted fundraisers from Frome donned their trainers and walked for nearly ten hours in the name of raising money for Breast Cancer Campaign.
The event was organised by Frome woman, Debbie Poole, who is hoping to raise over £1,000 for the national charity.
Debbie said, “I heard about an event organised by the Breast Cancer Campaign called Step On It. The idea is to walk a step for every person diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK this year. There are currently 46,000 people diagnosed, which means we needed to walk 46,000 steps.”
The walk started at Curves in Frome and took a route to Horningsham, Longleat, Shearwater and back to Frome – a total of 23 miles. A shorter route was also walked by a handful of the fundraisers.
“It was mostly members of Curves and their friends and relations who took part on the day. Everybody was sponsored for the walk and it looks like together we will have raised over £1,000 which is brilliant.”
Anybody who would like to sponsor the group for their walk can do so by contacting Debbie on 469978.
